Food for Thought

It's quite, it's early. My coffee is hot. The sky is still black. The world is still asleep, but the day is coming. In a few moments the day will arrive. It will roar down with the rising of the sun. The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the noise of the day. The claim of solitude will be replaced by the pounding pace of the human race. The refuge of early morning will be invaded by decisions to be made and deadlines to be met.

For the next several hours I will be exposed to the day's demand. It is now that I must make a choice, because of Calvary I am free to choose, and so I choose.

I choose love- No occasion justifies hatred, no injustice warrants bitterness. I choose love today I will love God and what God loves.

I choose joy- I will invite my God to be the God of all circumstances, I will refuse to see any problems as anything less than an opportunity to see the goodness of God.

I choose peace- I will live forgiven, I will forgive so that I might live.

I choose patience- I will overlook the inconveniences of the world, I will not complain, but I will face all with joy and courage.

I choose kindness- I will be kind to all I meet, although they may not be what I want them to be, but they were made by God.

I choose faithfulness- Today I will keep my promise; I will pay my vows to my creator.

I choose gentleness- If I raise my voice may it be only in praise, if I clench my fist may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.

I choose self-control- I am a spiritual being, I will be influenced only by God, I will be taught only by Christ.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

To this I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks, if I fail I will seek His grace, and then when the day is done I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

Love you all God bless, Bill

The House of Prayer

Just close your eyes and open your heart
And feel your cares and worries depart.
Just yield yourself to the Father above
And let Him hold you secure in His love. . .
Fo life on earth grows more involved
With endless problems that can't be solved,
But God only asks us to do our best;
Then He will take over and finish the rest. . .
So when you are tired, discouraged, and blue,
There's always a door open to you,
And that is the door to the house of prayer,
And you'll find God waiting to meet you there. . .
And the house of prayer is no farther away
Than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray.
For the heart is a temple when God is there
As we place ourselves in His loving care. . .
And He hears every prayer and answers each one
When we pray in His name, "Thy will be done."
And the burdens that seemed too heavy to bear
Are lifted away on the wings of prayer.

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. Incline my ear to your words, and let your speech come to me as dew upon the grass… If I hear your voice, let me not be condemned for hearing the word and not following it, for knowing it and not loving it, for believing it and not living it. Speak then, Lord, for your servant listens, for you have the words of eternal life.

Speak to me to comfort my soul and to change my whole life; in turn, may it give you praise and honour, forever and ever. Amen. –
