Children's Ministry

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

We have age appropriate classes for children for Sunday School and encourage attendance.

Our kids delight in joining with Charlene Kennedy up front each Sunday morning during the service for Pastor's Pals where they interact and sing songs for the congregation. We believe children are needed in worship. What better way for children to learn what faith is all about than to be part of a worship family?

When a child is dedicated to God in our midst, the adults of the church promise to be active in nurturing that childs faith.  It is our desire to nurture all children in their faith and to be nurtured by them in return.  Not only are children a Gift from the Lord, but they give us the gift of their trust and a fresh point of view.  Adults may share the gift of acceptance, experience, and wisdom of the church through the ages.

May we suggest:

  • We understand that it is hard for a child to sit still and listen and that there will be some noise, use a gentle touch to encourage them to listen quietly.
  • SING the hymns, PRAY the prayers, and VOICE the responses.  Our children learn good behavior in church by copying ours!
  • Explain quietly the parts of the service.
  • Encourage respect for the person speaking and others in the service by listening quietly.
  • Help your child find the verses in the Bible and the pages in the hymnal, even if it is not the proper page.
  • A nursery is provided for the babies during the service, if you prefer.

Our Vacation Bible School this year, June 15-17, was a blessed success. We had an average of 45 kids in attendance each day. They had a great time praising the Lord in song and dance, they surprised us how fast they were able to pick up the moves and follow the dance team. It was a wonderful blessing for young and old alike to watch them have such a great time praising the Lord.
